African studies certificate students discuss COVID-19, Africa on new podcast
As part of the spring course “Critical African Studies,” five seniors graduating with a certificate in African studies — Matthew Fuller, Collins Metto, Eric Stinehart, Trina Swanson and Catherine Sweeney — created a podcast, “Coronawatch,” which reviewed the history of pandemics on the African continent, the current reach of COVID-19, responsed by local and global actors, and the economic impact of this public health crisis.
“Critical African Studies,” taught by Chambi Chachage, postdoctoral research associate and lecturer in Princeton Institute for International and Regional Studies (PIIRS), is a colloquium designed as a capstone course for African studies certificate students. It introduces students to cutting-edge scholarship in the discipline by engaging with scholars from Princeton and beyond.
